Special crossing of a cheque by naming a banker directs payment and limits negotiation to that banker. A cheque bearing across its face the name of a banker, with or without the words 'not negotiable', constitutes a crossing and is to be treated as a crossed specially cheque directed to that banker, thereby fixing the payee route and limiting negotiation or presentation to conform with the crossing.
