Duplicate bill rights allow a holder to seek a replacement with indemnity and security; drawer may be compelled to issue. A holder of a lost bill of exchange, lost before it is overdue, may request the drawer to give a duplicate bill of the same tenor and, if required, must give security to indemnify the drawer against any persons should the original be found; refusal by the drawer may be met by compulsion to issue the duplicate.
