Notice of protest replaces notice of dishonour when protest is required and may be given by the notary public. When a promissory note or bill of exchange must be formally protested, the required communication is a notice of protest instead of a notice of dishonour, to be given in the same manner and subject to the same conditions; the notary public who makes the protest may give the notice.
