        Liability of banker for negligent handling of bills: banker liable to compensate holder for loss caused by negligent delivery. Where a bill of exchange accepted payable at a specified bank is duly presented there for payment and dishonoured, a banker who negligently or improperly keeps, deals with, or delivers back the bill so as to cause loss to the holder is obligated to compensate the holder for that loss.
