Section 49: Convert Blank Endorsement to Full Without Holder's Signature or Indorser Responsibilities Under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
The holder of a negotiable instrument endorsed in blank can convert it into an endorsement in full by writing a directive above the indorser's signature to pay a specified person as indorsee. This conversion does not require the holder to sign their name nor does it impose on them the responsibilities of an indorser. This provision is outlined in Section 49 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, under Indian law.
