<h1>Central Government may establish Special Courts for speedy trial of SEBI Act offences with single judge appointments</h1> The Central Government may establish Special Courts for speedy trial of offences under the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992. Each Special Court consists of a single judge appointed by the Central Government with the Chief Justice's concurrence from the relevant High Court jurisdiction. Only Sessions Judges or Additional Sessions Judges are qualified for appointment to these Special Courts. This provision was inserted through the Securities Laws (Amendment) Act, 2014, effective from July 18, 2013.
