<h1>SEBI Section 24A allows composition of certain offences excluding imprisonment-only penalties through Amendment Act 2002</h1> Section 24A of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 permits composition of certain offences by the Securities Appellate Tribunal or relevant court. This provision allows settlement of offences punishable under the Act, excluding those carrying imprisonment only or imprisonment with fine. The composition can occur before or after proceedings are instituted, notwithstanding provisions in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. This section was inserted through the SEBI Amendment Act, 2002, effective from October 29, 2002.
