<h1>Section 24 SEBI Act 1992 imposes criminal penalties up to 10 years imprisonment and 25 crore fine for violations</h1> Section 24 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 prescribes criminal penalties for violations. Any person who contravenes, attempts to contravene, or abets contravention of the Act or its rules and regulations faces imprisonment up to ten years, fine up to twenty-five crore rupees, or both. Additionally, failure to pay penalties imposed by adjudicating officers or comply with directions results in mandatory imprisonment of at least one month, extendable to ten years, with similar fine provisions. These penalties apply without prejudice to any administrative penalties already awarded.
