Case transfer authority expanded to centralise identical legal questions and permit transfers between high tribunals for justice.

Insertion of Article 139-A empowers the Supreme Court to withdraw cases from one or more High Courts on application by the Attorney-General when the same or substantially the same questions of law of substantial general importance arise, and to dispose of them itself; it also permits the Supreme Court to transfer any case, appeal or other proceedings between High Courts if expedient for the ends of justice.
