of <h1>Amendment of the Constitution of India: The Forty-second Amendment Act, 1976 and Its Provisions</h1> The Constitution (Forty-second Amendment) Act, 1976 was enacted on December 18, 1976, to further amend the Constitution of India. The Act provides for its short title and commencement provisions, stating that the Central Government may appoint different dates for different provisions to come into force through notification in the Official Gazette. According to the notes, the Act came into force on January 3, 1977, as notified through G.S.R. 2(E) dated January 3, 1977.
