of <h1>India Announces Commencement Dates for Constitution (42nd Amendment) Act, 1976; Key Sections Effective January 3, 1977</h1> The Central Government of India, through a notification dated January 3, 1977, announced the commencement dates for various sections of the Constitution (Forty-second Amendment) Act, 1976. Sections 2 to 5, 7 to 17, 20, 28, 29, 30, 33, 36, and 43 to 53, along with sections 55, 56, 57, and 59, came into effect on January 3, 1977. Sections 6, 23 to 26, 37 to 42, 54, and 58 were set to commence on February 1, 1977, and section 27 on April 1, 1977.
