District Consumer Protection Council establishes local consumer oversight with prescribed membership, meeting frequency, and procedural rules. The State Government must establish a District Consumer Protection Council for every district by notification, comprising the district Collector as Chairman and other prescribed official and non official members. The Council shall meet as and when necessary but at least two times annually, at times and places within the district determined by the Chairman, and shall follow procedure for transaction of business as prescribed by the State Government.
