Non-compliance with interim orders under Section 25 of Consumer Protection Act can lead to property attachment and sale.
Section 25 of the Consumer Protection Act 1986 addresses the enforcement of orders by the District Forum, State Commission, or National Commission. If an interim order is not complied with, these bodies may attach the property of the non-complying party. Such attachment lasts up to three months, after which the property may be sold if non-compliance persists. Proceeds can be used to award damages to the complainant, with any balance returned to the entitled party. Additionally, if any amount is due under an order, the entitled party can apply for recovery through the district's Collector, akin to recovering land revenue arrears.
