Power to search premises allows authorised Central Excise officers to search and seize documents when they have reason to believe. Section 82 empowers specified Central Excise officers to authorise or personally conduct searches and seizures of documents, books or things believed to be secreted and relevant to proceedings under the Chapter, and provides that search procedures shall, so far as may be, follow the search provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
