of <h1>Section 112 of Finance Act 2018: Road and Infrastructure Cess on Scheduled Goods Funds Infrastructure Projects, Amended in 2024.</h1> Section 112 of the Finance Act, 2018, imposes an additional duty of excise known as the Road and Infrastructure Cess on specified excisable goods, termed as scheduled goods, to fund infrastructure projects. This cess is levied in addition to other excise duties under the Central Excise Act, 1944, or any other applicable law. The provisions of the Central Excise Act, including those on duty determination, assessment, refunds, and penalties, apply to this cess. The section was amended in 2024 to update references to the Central Excise Act and its applicability to the collection of this cess.
