Extraterritorial application: customs law now applies to offences committed outside the country by any person, subject to exceptions. Amendment inserts an express extraterritorial application in section 1(2) of the Customs Act: the Act 'applies also to any offence or contravention thereunder committed outside the country by any person,' subject to any contrary provision elsewhere in the Act.
