Disposal of arrested persons: immediate forwarding to an empowered Central Excise officer or to the nearest police officer for custody. Every person arrested under the Central Excise Act must be forwarded without delay to the nearest Central Excise Officer empowered to send persons so arrested to a Magistrate, or, if no such officer is within a reasonable distance, to the officer in charge of the nearest police station.
