          <h1>Body screening authority expanded with required prior supervisory approval; magistrate may act on screening reports.</h1> The substituted provision authorises the proper officer, with prior approval of the Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner of Customs, to detain and screen or scan a person suspected of concealing goods inside the body, preserving the person's statutory rights and consent; where goods appear secreted the officer must forward a report to the magistrate or produce the person before the magistrate. Sub section (6) is amended to allow the magistrate to act on reports arising from such screening or scanning.
