        Settlement by mutual agreement empowers ombudsman to promote mediation, notify respondents and record awards directing performance. Regulation 16 requires the Ombudsman to notify the listed company or intermediary of any complaint and endeavour to promote settlement by agreement or mediation. If parties reach an amicable settlement, the Ombudsman must record that settlement in an award and direct parties to perform obligations under the award within a specified short period. To promote settlement the Ombudsman may follow such procedures and take such actions as considered appropriate.
