Ombudsman qualification: citizenship, integrity, minimum age and prescribed judicial or ten year experience pathways required for appointment. Appointment as an Ombudsman requires Indian citizenship, high moral integrity, a minimum age of forty five, and satisfaction of one of four alternative experience pathways: retired or qualified District Judge; substantial service in a regulatory body; at least ten years' specialised experience in law, finance, corporate matters, economics, management or administration; or being an office bearer of a Board recognised investors' association with sustained investor protection experience.
