Suspension of Importer Exporter Code where trade or economic law breaches restricts exports and imports except by special licence. The Director General or an authorized officer may call for records, issue written notice of grounds and, after allowing a reasonable opportunity for written representation and hearing, suspend for a specified period or cancel an Importer-exporter Code Number where a person contravenes relevant trade or economic laws or where imports/exports are prejudicial to trade relations or bring disrepute; suspended or cancelled holders may import or export only under a prescribed special licence granted by the Director General.
