<h1>DGFT Warns Indian Exporters on SPS Non-Compliance; Risk of Penalties and Code Suspension Under Foreign Trade Act.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued a notice addressing non-compliance with Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) measures by Indian exporters, which has led to complaints from importing countries. As a signatory to the SPS Agreement under the WTO, India requires exporters to adhere to food safety and health regulations. Non-compliance can result in the suspension or cancellation of the Importer-Exporter Code Number and penalties under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992. Exporters are urged to meet the SPS requirements of importing countries and provide necessary certifications with export documents. The notice is also shared with the Department of Revenue and Export Promotion Councils for wider dissemination.
