44th Amendment Act Removed Right to Property from Fundamental Rights Under Article 19
The 44th Amendment Act of 1978 modified Article 19 of the Constitution by removing sub-clause (f) from clause (1) and inserting the word 'and' at the end of sub-clause (e). Additionally, clause (5) was amended to replace references to 'sub-clauses (d), (e) and (f)' with 'sub-clauses (d) and (e)'. These changes effectively removed the right to property from the list of fundamental rights protected under Article 19. The amendment came into force on June 19, 1979.
