of <h1>India's Constitution (44th Amendment) Act, 1978: Key Sections Activated June 1979; Others Effective August 1, 1979.</h1> The Central Government of India, through a notification dated June 19, 1979, announced the commencement dates for various sections of the Constitution (Forty-fourth Amendment) Act, 1978. Sections 2, 4 to 16, 22, 23, 25 to 29, 31 to 42, 44, and 45 would come into effect immediately following the publication of the notification in the Official Gazette. Meanwhile, sections 17 to 21 and 30 were scheduled to come into force on August 1, 1979.
