of <h1>44th Amendment: Article 38 Updated to Address Income Inequality, Promote Social and Economic Equality</h1> The Constitution (44th Amendment) Act, 1978, amends Article 38 by renumbering it as clause (1) and adding a new clause (2). This new clause mandates the State to actively work towards reducing income inequalities and eliminating disparities in status, facilities, and opportunities among individuals and groups in different regions and professions. This amendment aims to promote social and economic equality. The amendment came into effect on June 19, 1979.
