          <h1>Finance Act 2024 introduces sub-section 9A to Section 139 of Income-tax Act, effective October 1, 2024.</h1> Section 139 of the Income-tax Act is amended by the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2024, to include a new sub-section (9A). Effective from October 1, 2024, this sub-section stipulates that when a return of income is filed following an order under clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 119, the existing provisions of section 139 will be applicable.
