<h1>Section 78 Amended: Central Registrar Can Probe Multi-State Co-ops for Fraud, Conduct Periodic Inquiries into Operations</h1> Section 78 of the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act has been amended to include new provisions. Sub-section (1A) allows the Central Registrar to demand information or explanations from a multi-State co-operative society if there is evidence of fraudulent or unlawful activities. If the explanation is unsatisfactory, the Registrar can initiate an inquiry into the society's operations. Sub-section (1B) empowers the Central Registrar to conduct periodic inquiries into the constitution, operations, and financial condition of any multi-State co-operative society, either on his own initiative or through an authorized officer or agency, as determined by the Central Government.
