New Criteria for Chief Executives in Multi-State Co-ops: Age Limit, Insolvency, Convictions, and 'Fit and Proper' Standards.
Section 51 of the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act has been amended to include a new sub-section (1A), which sets criteria for appointing or continuing the employment of a Chief Executive in multi-State co-operative societies. The criteria specify that the individual must be at least 21 years old and not over 70, unless a special resolution is passed. Additionally, the individual must not be an undischarged insolvent, have a conviction with a sentence exceeding six months, or fail to meet 'fit and proper' criteria as determined by the Central Registrar or prescribed by the Central Government.
