          <h1>Order of recognition for provident funds sets effect from application month, with commissioner discretion to adjust to financial year start.</h1> An order granting recognition to a recognised provident fund generally takes effect from the last day of the month in which the application is received, unless the employer requests the last day of a later month in the same financial year; the Chief Commissioner or Commissioner may, if satisfied there was sufficient reason for delay, accord recognition from a date not earlier than the first day of April of that financial year.
