<h1>Customs Act Section 103 Amended: Screening for Concealed Goods Now Permitted with Officer Approval and Individual Consent.</h1> Section 103 of the Customs Act has been amended to allow the detention of individuals suspected of concealing confiscable goods within their bodies. The proper officer, with approval from the Deputy or Assistant Commissioner of Customs, may screen or scan the individual using available equipment, respecting their legal rights and obtaining consent. The officer must report findings to the nearest magistrate if goods are detected. Additionally, sub-section (6) is amended to include reports received from the proper officer under the new clause (a) of sub-section (1).
