of <h1>Amendment to Section 23 of Benami Property Act: Exemptions Clarified for Notices Issued Under Section 24(1), Retroactive from 2016.</h1> In the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988, an amendment to section 23 clarifies that the provisions of this section do not apply when a notice under sub-section (1) of section 24 has been issued by the Initiating Officer. This amendment, introduced by the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2019, is retroactively effective from November 1, 2016.
