Resignation and removal: Chairperson or Member must give notice and continue until successor or term expiry; removal only after enquiry. Resignation requires written notice to the Central Government and continued service during a transitional period unless permitted to relinquish earlier, a successor assumes office, or the term expires. Removal is permitted only by Central Government order on grounds of proved misbehaviour or incapacity after an inquiry by an appointed person in which the concerned individual is informed of charges and given a reasonable opportunity to be heard.
