The Appellate Tribunal from the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act, 1976, will now serve as the Appellate Tribunal for this Act. Sections 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, and 31 are omitted. New provisions outline qualifications for Special Director (Appeals), terms of service, and staffing. The term 'Special Director (Appeals)' replaces references to the Appellate Tribunal in several sections, and relevant officers are deemed public servants under the Indian Penal Code.
