Appointment to the Appellate Tribunal requires role specific qualifications for President, Judicial Members and Technical Members, with age and service experience conditions and limited relaxation by State notification. The Government appoints or reappoints officers on the recommendations of a Search cum Selection Committee whose composition and voting rules are prescribed; the Committee must furnish a panel of two names. Terms of office, service conditions, salary protections, reappointment limits, resignation notice and continuity, grounds and procedure for removal or suspension, and post office appearance restrictions are defined to safeguard institutional integrity.
