of <h1>Indian Post Office Act Update: New Inland Postage Rates Set by Finance Act 1998, Effective Soon</h1> The amendment to the Indian Post Office Act, 1898, as per the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1998, revises inland postage rates effective from a date appointed by the Central Government. The new rates include Rs. 3.00 for letters up to twenty grams, Rs. 1.50 for letter-cards, and varying rates for post cards, book pattern and sample packets, registered newspapers, and parcels. Post cards with printed communication cost Rs. 1.50, while competition post cards are Rs. 3.00. Parcels up to five hundred grams are Rs. 10.00, with an additional Rs. 10.00 for each extra five hundred grams.
