GST Implementation Begins April 2017; NACEN to Train 60,000 Tax Officials with FAQs and E-Learning Tools
The 101st Constitution Amendment Act, effective from September 8, 2016, and the GST Council's notification on September 15, 2016, paved the way for implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from April 1, 2017. A significant challenge is training indirect tax officials from both central and state governments on GST concepts and procedures. The National Academy of Customs, Excise & Narcotics (NACEN) is tasked with training approximately 60,000 officers using various methods, including virtual classrooms and e-learning. NACEN has compiled a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) booklet, covering 24 topics with over 500 questions, to aid in understanding the Model GST Law. This document is intended for training purposes and is not legal advice.
