Its functions include facilitating registration, forwarding returns to authorities, computing and settling IGST, matching tax payments with banking networks, and offering various MIS reports. GSTN is developing a common GST portal for registration, payment, and returns, integrating with existing tax systems, and building interfaces for taxpayers. It also develops back-end modules for 19 States and UTs, while CBEC and 15 other States handle their back-end systems, ensuring a smooth transition.
