Monetary Policy Committee framework introduced; government sets inflation target and RBI must publish policy reports and implementation documents. Amendments add definitions for Consumer Price Index, inflation and Monetary Policy Committee, create Chapter IIIF establishing a statutory Monetary Policy Committee with specified composition, and expand section 58 rule making to prescribe remuneration, Secretary functions, meeting procedure, and publication particulars. The Bank must provide relevant information to Committee members, publish a document explaining implementation of Committee decisions, and produce a semiannual Monetary Policy Report detailing sources of inflation and short to medium term inflation forecasts.
