Central Government Can Amend Foreign Trade Policy 2009-2014 in Public Interest Under Section 5 of FT(D&R) Act.
The Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2009-2014 governs the export and import of goods and services from August 27, 2009, until further orders. The policy, updated on June 5, 2012, allows the Central Government to amend it in the public interest under Section 5 of the FT(D&R) Act. Authorizations issued prior to the FTP's commencement remain valid unless stated otherwise. If exports or imports allowed under the FTP face new restrictions, they are generally permitted if shipped within the original validity of an irrevocable commercial letter of credit, which must be registered within 15 days of any new restriction.
