Board of Trade Advises on Export Growth, Reviews Performance, and Suggests Policy Improvements for Enhanced Competitiveness
The Board of Trade (BOT) plays a key advisory role to the government on foreign trade issues. Its responsibilities include advising on policy measures for export growth, reviewing export performance, identifying constraints, and suggesting industry-specific measures. It also examines and suggests improvements to the institutional framework and policy instruments for imports and exports. The BOT aims to enhance India's international competitiveness and may commission studies to support these goals. The Commerce & Industry Minister chairs the BOT, which includes up to 25 nominated members, with at least 10 trade policy experts, and ex-officio members from recognized trade bodies. Meetings occur quarterly.
