Conditions of registration require minimum membership, local or community connection, and a 'limited' suffix for limited liability. Section 6 requires a society (except one composed of a registered society's members) to have at least ten persons over eighteen when its object is creating funds to lend to members, and those persons must reside in the same town, village or group of villages or, unless the Registrar directs otherwise, be of the same tribe, class, caste or occupation; societies with limited liability must have the word 'limited' as the last word in their name.
