Pledging of certificate allows transfer as security to specified institutional pledgees, with endorsement, re-transfer and replacement rules.
Rule permits transfer of a registered certificate as security to specified institutional pledgees; transfer requires application in prescribed form and Postmaster endorsement stating 'Transferred as security to...'. The pledgee is deemed the holder of the certificate until re-transfer, which may occur only on written authority of the pledgee and with prior written sanction of the authorised Postmaster and an endorsement 'Re-transferred to...'. Officers acting for public or institutional pledgees must certify their authorisation under institutional articles or article 299 where applicable. When endorsement space is exhausted, a fresh certificate may be issued and treated as equivalent for all purposes.
