of <h1>Wealth-tax Act Update: Gold Deposit Bonds Excluded from 'Jewellery' Definition in Section 2 Amendment Effective April 2000</h1> In the Finance Act of 1999, an amendment to section 2 of the Wealth-tax Act, 1957, is made. Specifically, clause (ea) is modified by renumbering the existing Explanation as Explanation 1 and adding a new Explanation 2. Effective April 1, 2000, Explanation 2 clarifies that 'jewellery' does not encompass Gold Deposit Bonds issued under the Gold Deposit Scheme, 1999, as notified by the Central Government.
