Finance Act, 1999: Changes to Central Excise Act, 1944 - Authority Titles and Duty References Updated Under Section 119
Section 119 of the Finance Act, 1999, amends the Central Excise Act, 1944, by substituting certain authorities with new ones. The Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise is now referred to as either the Assistant Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Central Excise, and the Deputy Commissioner is replaced by the Joint Commissioner of Central Excise. Additionally, the term 'the Schedule' is updated to 'the First Schedule and the Second Schedule,' and references to 'duty' or 'duties of excise' are expanded to include the special duty of excise as specified in the Second Schedule of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985.
