of <h1>Income-tax Act Section 12AA Amended: Chief Commissioner Reference Removed, Pending Applications Transferred to Commissioner Effective June 1, 1999.</h1> Section 12AA of the Income-tax Act is amended effective June 1, 1999. The amendment removes the words 'Chief Commissioner or' from sub-section (1). A new sub-section (1A) is added, stating that all applications pending before the Chief Commissioner without orders as of June 1, 1999, will be transferred to the Commissioner. The Commissioner will then continue processing these applications from their current stage under sub-section (1).
