Adjudicating Authority: Competent Authority under the forfeiture regime designated to exercise jurisdiction under the benami law. The Adjudicating Authority provision is substituted to designate the Competent Authority under the forfeiture regime of the smugglers and foreign exchange manipulation law as the Adjudicating Authority for the benami law, transferring jurisdiction, powers and authority under the Act to that Competent Authority. Consequential omissions remove a series of intermediate adjudicatory provisions and specified subordinate clauses, and a temporary extension of the statutory time limit for passing certain orders is provided. The amendments take effect from 1st July, 2021.
