Amendments centralize adjudication under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act by designating the Competent Authority from the related forfeiture statute as the Adjudicating Authority, and propose repeal of prior intermediary adjudicatory provisions. The Bill also provides a statutory extension of the time limit for passing orders when that limit falls within a specified interim period, and makes consequential deletions of redundant clauses, with the amendments effective from the Bill's commencement date.
