          <h1>Adjudicating Authority redefined as Competent Authority under Smugglers and Foreign Exchange law, altering jurisdiction and provisions.</h1> The Bill redesignates the Adjudicating Authority by revising section 2(1) wording and replacing section 7 so that the Competent Authority under subsection (1) of section 5 of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 serves as the Adjudicating Authority; consequentially sections 8-17 and specified clauses of section 68(2) are omitted. Section 26(7) is amended to extend the time limit for passing orders that expire within a stated intervening period in 2021. The amendments take effect from 1st July, 2021.
