          <h1>Adjudicating Authority designation changed: Competent Authority under smugglers and foreign exchange law to exercise benami Act jurisdiction.</h1> The amendments revise the definition of Adjudicating Authority in section 2(1) and replace section 7 to designate the existing Competent Authority under the related foreign exchange and smuggling statute as the Adjudicating Authority for the Act, consequentially omitting sections 8-17 and removing specified sub-clauses of section 68(2); section 26(7) is amended to extend the time for passing orders that expire within a defined interval to a single specified date.
