Section 22D gives Special Courts exclusive jurisdiction over all Depositories Act offences regardless of timing
Section 22D of the Depositories Act, 1996 establishes exclusive jurisdiction for Special Courts to handle all offences under the Act, regardless of when committed. The provision overrides the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, mandating that Special Courts in the relevant area take cognizance and try such offences. Where multiple Special Courts exist in an area, the concerned High Court designates which court shall handle the case. This amendment was inserted through the Securities Laws Amendment Act, 2014, effective from July 18, 2013.
